ACORNS

For 7 to 12 year olds

Acorns is a Christian youth group for children aged between 7 and 12 years. We meet every Monday evening during term-time from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.

We have a wide variety of activities throughout the year. These are mainly held at the church and include things such as team games, craft work, video detective, parachute games, quizzes, beetle drives to name but a few. We also arrange outings twice a term and these vary from year to year. The most popular being the Fire Station, Torch-light Rambles, Ice Skating, 10-pin bowling and swimming. We also have park outings during the summer months.

Each evening we have a christian message to share with the children. This is an important part of the evening and we make it as interesting as possible for the children to understand more about Jesus. This ‘Devotional’ time as we call it is led by different people so there are a wide variety of presentations.

We provide a balance programme of physical, mental and spiritual activities to enable the children to develop new skills and ideas in a safe and disciplined environment. All staff have been police checked and at least two hold a valid First Aid Certificate.

We would also encourage your child to come to Adventurers on Sunday mornings from 10.30am - 11.40am. This is a Bible based fun morning for children aged from 3 to 16 years. We also have a crèche for those under 3. Adults of course are welcome to come along to the morning service too! There is a Minibus pick-up collection for a catchment area around the church. A Family Service is held on the 2nd Sunday of each month. We warmly welcome the whole family to these and it would be lovely to see you.

We also run an annual camp over the Bank Holiday weekend in August. This is open to all children aged between 9 and 12 who attend either Acorns or Sunday Adventurers. For more information regarding this please follow this link
