CHINA NEWS

Hi Everyone,

Not a lot to report this month. The only significant thing at school is that one of the teachers will be leaving at the end April. She is studying Primary Education and needs to go to another city as part of her training for the whole of May. After that, she will take a course in Chinese and English, which is all weekend so has to leave. However, I have interviewed and accepted two girls who are classmates of previous assistants but I will have to go through the training again with them!

I mentioned last month about getting a shoe made up so both legs appear to be the same height. I had one done and it’s great so I’ve had another trainer and sandal done making three in all. It makes a lot of difference and I’m walking much straighter.

I will be going on holiday for 2-3 days early May, as May 1st is a holiday. I’ve been invited by the parents of the boy I teach to go and stay with them at a home they have about 4 hours by train way. The home is close to the start of the Great Wall and also close to a famous seaside resort called Nan Dai He (pronounced Nan Die Her). I’m looking forward to going but will probably only go for a paddle as the sea temperature will be very cold as early in the year.

We’ve been having some very hot weather recently but it will end in a couple of days. Yesterday was 29C and it’s been around 25C for over a week. However, we will get rain on Tuesday afternoon and then it will rain all day Wed with the temperature plummeting to 2C!!!! Quite a massive swing in temperature.

The friend of the lady who cleans my flat has been to my flat for a lesson twice now but she has now gone away for a while with her company. She will contact me when she comes back in early May.
