ACORNS

On April 21st we had a general games evening to get back into things where we tried some new games, and some old favourites.

Trisha spoke about the parable of the lost sheep. We recreated the story with one of the children as a shepherd and the rest as sheep, and me playing the wolf (I always get typecast as a bad guy!) Trisha reminded us how Jesus celebrates every time a sinner repents.

April 28th was really an off the cuff evening as we had to change our plans. We played a lot of team games and great fun was had by all.

Caroline spoke about Temptation and how the devil is always trying to tempt us into doing the wrong thing, she told us that’s not a sin but if we do go on an do the wrong thing then that is a sin. She read from Matthew telling us about how the devil tried to tempt Jesus.

May 5th was bank holiday, yay!

On May 12th, we were joined by Jackie Sibuns & Audrey Taylor who came to tell us about their recent visit to Brazil. We did some cooking then there was a quiz and then Audrey told us a story about a man she has known for many years is Brazil, who was told at a young age he had a serious illness and only had about a year to live. He got through that and when he was in his early 20’s he decided to study English but could only attend night classes.

One night on his way home he was attacked by three men, who had guns, they also stole his bike and he had to struggle to make the four-mile journey to his home in sever pain. He felt ashamed because he had wondered why God didn’t protect him that night. A few days later, he felt that God was telling him that he should:

  1. Read the Bible more.
  2. Pray to Him more.
  3. Put Him first.
  4. Tell others about Him.
Thanks to Audrey & Jackie for a great evening!

Reminder: Date for Acorns parent’s diaries: BBQ July 21st.
