The healing of Dorcas (Acts 9) was our story on 20th May and as she was a seamstress the children tried their hand at a bit of sewing, and most of them did quite a good job. After half term we had the healing of the 10 lepers (Luke 17) – we managed to point out that leprosy still exists today and The Leprosy Mission collects used stamps for sale towards the work of the mission. The children were shown how to prepare a stamp removed from an envelope. One or two children have started to collect stamps to go into a barrel. Let’s hope they keep it up. Our outing to Oakwood Park had to be rearranged to Groveland’s park because of re-conditioning of the play area. Groveland’s ducks enjoyed the visit too and the scavenger hunt proved educational to some leaders as well as the Squirrels. Only 6 of our 12 children came on the 17th June – it seems the others were tired out after an exhausting sports day at school!! Our end of term party is on 15th July. Just before that is our special anniversary service (72nd) on 13th July at 10:30 am. We would like all parents and friends to come on that occasion when the speaker is Jonty Allcock from Enfield Peggy and Harold |
