FIRST PAGEI think of a Day of Prayer as a bit like putting up an umbrella! Setting the church apart for a day of quiet and prayer may be like the handle and the stick, but the covering of prayer is not in place without the spokes to hold the canopy up, just as we value everyone praying at home, and through the dayWe pray through the year, and we need to pray every day, but it is such a help in expressing our utter dependence upon God, to make a special day to say it, and to say it together, not just in words, but as well, in the eloquence of quiet before him Thank you for taking part, in whatever way you were able to do so, and may I add a very deeply felt personal word of appreciation for your prayers for my ministry, as well as for me and my family, faithfully made through the months It is an important thing too, that we should cultivate the attitude of heart to listen to God, willing to hear whatever he may want to say to us, and human nature being as it is, we need the deliberate act of taking time, to help us do so Thank you for your support and involvement, in the third year we have made a day for prayer as we did on Saturday 2 October again, in this 75th anniversary year, whether you made the journey to church, or kept the time where you were Of greatest importance is our united expression of relying on the Lord in all we do, far beyond the good ideas we often think are a wise way to pray, learning instead to desire his kingdom and glory in the Lord Jesus, above all else Your Pastor, Gordon Gordon |
